LA UNION, Philippines – The beautiful sport of surfing takes Homestretch to La Union, north of Luzon, where nearly 120 elite longboard surfers from 24 countries converged for the World Surf League (WSL) La Union International Pro.
Homestretch talks to Jay-r Esquivel, one of the Philippines’ most promising longboard athletes, and Rachel Tilly, three-time WSL longboard world champion. The two athletes recount how they got swept up by the sport.
Show host Pato Gregorio also discusses with Jay-r how La Union became a go-to surfing destination for athletes and enthusiasts, boosting tourism in the province.
