Yesterday, 16:45 Weather Authors: Toms Bricis (LSM.LV) As the cold weather continues, temperatures in some parts of Latvia will remain around -25 degrees Celsius on Tuesday morning, warns the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre. A severe frost warning is in effect for most of the country. An orange level alert is in effect in southern Latgale, S?lija and Zemgale, while a yellow level alert is in effect elsewhere.

The skies will be mostly clear, with light winds and fog and frost expected in some places.

The minimum temperature at night will be -22 to-17 C, in some places in the south of the country down to -26 C, while in some places on the coast and in Northern Vidzeme it will be warmer: -16 to -11 C.

The day will be mostly sunny, with a light south, southeast wind.

Maximum air temperature -10 to -4 C.

In R?ga, the skies will be mostly clear. There will be a slow south, southeast wind. The minimum air temperature at night in the city centre will be around -18 C, in the suburbs up to -22 C, but the maximum during the day will be around -9 C.

According to the regulations of the Cabinet of Ministers, children under the age of 12 may not attend educational institutions if the air temperature is below -20 degrees, while students aged 13 and older may not attend school if the air temperature has dropped to at least -25 degrees.
