New Zimbabwe 03:38 AM UTC Sun February 08, 2026 Sports

THE newly-built Chahwanda Stadium in Kwekwe is set to be officially opened February 28, NewZimbabwe.com has heard.

Built by businessman Shepherd Chahwanda, the stadium will be commissioned by President Emmerson Mnangagwa to mark its full operations.

The move has since pushed the Premier Soccer League (PSL) to reschedule the Castle Challenge Cup between Dynamos and Scottland FC from February 20 to March 1.

The facility is set to accommodate 20,000 people and will be one of the PSL venues for the 2026 season.

The stadium will be home to PSL newcomers Hardrock FC, a team owned by Chahwanda.

Alternatively named The Heart Main Arena, the stadium was built with the help of Yadah FC owner Prophet Walter Magaya, who is also Chahwanda?s business partner.

In addition to hosting local games, the new facility is also eligible to host CAF games that fall under Category B.
