Frankie Company, one of Samoa's largest supermarket chains, says its hypermarket in Apia has been destroyed by fire.
Video on social media showed the massive building ablaze on Monday, with thick black smoke rising into the air.
The building also has other businesses on its premises.
In a statement, the company said all staff were safe and accounted for, and no injuries had been reported.
"We are supporting our team and cooperating with authorities in the investigation," the statement said.
"We assure you that our services remain unchanged at our other locations, and our online website is available during the closure of our hypermarket outlet.
"We want to confirm that employment for our staff will not be affected during this time."
Frankie Company also asked people to respect safety cordons.
"We appreciate your patience as we assess the situation. Updates will follow as more information becomes available."
It also thanked its business partners and customers for their supportive messages.
