The Peruvian Navy, through the General Directorate of Captaincies and Coast Guard (Dicapi), together with the United States Coast Guard, rescued 27 crew members. The operation followed a fire aboard Venezuelan-flagged vessel "La Peña," located 530 nautical miles northwest of the Galapagos Archipelago.It was carried out after the Search and Rescue Coordination Center detected the emergency and immediately activated the corresponding protocols, enabling coordination with the U.S. Coast Guard and the oil tanker "Seaways Kenosha."Under the direction of the National Maritime Authority, the assisting vessel diverted its course to carry out the evacuation of the crew members, who were brought to safety with no injuries or fatalities reported.Subsequently, those rescued were safely transferred to the Port of Callao.The causes of the fire aboard the foreign vessel remain under investigation and will be handled by the flag state of the affected ship.This mission reinforces the defense sector's commitment, through the Peruvian Navy, to the protection of human life at sea, while showcasing its technical and operational capabilities in responding to maritime emergencies of international scope.#NotaDePrensa | Marina de Guerra del Perú y de EE.
