GAPYEONG -- Two soldiers died after a military helicopter that was set to retire crashed in a northern county Monday following a takeoff for training, military officials said.
The AH-1S Cobra helicopter of an Army aviation unit based in Gapyeong, about 55 kilometers northeast of Seoul, went down at 11:04 a.m. at a stream located some 800 meters near its base post. The helicopter had taken off for flight training at 9:45 a.m.

-----------------■ (LEAD) Hanwha Aerospace posts record operating profit in 2025 on defense business growth
SEOUL -- Hanwha Aerospace Co., South Korea's leading defense company, said Monday its annual operating profit in 2025 jumped 75 percent on-year driven by robust growth in its ground defense and aerospace businesses.
The company said in a regulatory filing that operating profit for last year totaled 3.03 trillion won (USS$2.08 billion), compared with 1.73 trillion won in 2024.

SEOUL -- The National Assembly on Monday established a special committee to handle legislation aimed at implementing South Korea's investment pledges to the United States under a trade deal between the two nations.
During a plenary session, the Assembly approved a resolution with bipartisan support to form the committee to deal with the special bill on U.S. investment.

-----------------■ Police unveil crowd safety measures for BTS concert
SEOUL -- Police said Monday they will deploy counter-terrorism special forces in preparation for K-pop supergroup BTS' Seoul concert, slated for March 21, expecting a crowd of up to 260,000 would gather at Gwanghwamun Square, the venue for the concert, and its surrounding areas.
Park Jeong-bo, commissioner of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, said his agency will form a special task force led by the public safety deputy commissioner to ensure that the concert would proceed safely through the preparation of all functions.
