A DARING robbery unfolded in broad daylight on Saturday afternoon in Harare after a three-man gang pounced on a Mukuru money transfer agent and stole cash.
Two of the three assailants have since been arrested over the crime involving US$5,631 and 26,000 Rands.
Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) national spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the arrest.
?The ZRP confirms the arrest of Tanaka Java (42) and Ronald Rupare (28) in connection with an armed robbery case which occurred on February 7, 2026, at around 1230 hours at a Mukuru outlet in Mabelreign, Harare,? said Nyathi.
?The suspects allegedly attacked an employee and stole US$5,631 and ZAR26 600 cash.
?ZRP Mabelreign swiftly attended the scene following a prompt report and tip-off from members of the public. The suspects were pursued and arrested at a roadblock along Quinton Road, Avondale. One suspect escaped and is still at large.?
According to the police, the pair?s arrest led to the recovery of ZAR 10,000.
Nyathi hailed members of the public for their vigilance and tipping off authorities.
?The ZRP commends the public for their cooperation in the pursuit of the suspects. More details to be released in due course,? he said.
