Riga Executive Director J?nis Lange explained who this support is intended for: "Of course, it is no secret to anyone what a situation has developed in Ukraine in connection with the destruction of the entire energy supply system and attacks, and the Riga City Council has received several requests for humanitarian aid, asking for generators, cogeneration equipment, energy storage systems, or similar technical equipment. including the Ukrainian Embassy in Latvia, which has sent us a request for the Riga City Council to donate within its means through the foundation Ziedot.lv."

Ziedot.lv, in cooperation with the Ukrainian Energy Support Fund, will ensure that the donation is used in a targeted and transparent manner. The amount is EUR 100,000, which will be made available to Ukraine in full.

The funding will be allocated from the R?ga City Council's budget programme for contingency.

Five council members voted against providing aid to Ukraine: Nikolajs Kabanovs and Jakovs Pliners from the party For Stability! and R?dolfs Br?manis, Vja?eslavs Stepa?enko and ?ubova Švecova from Sovereign Power and the New Latvians (SV/AJ) association.

Inna Djeri, Art?rs Kl?bahs, J?lija Stepa?enko and J?lija Sohina from SV/AJ did not participate in the vote.
