The group face charges of contravening the Regulation of Foreign Military Assistance Act.
The accused include 39-year-old Nonkululeko Patricia Mantula, a well-known radio presenter, along with Thulani Mazibuko, Xolani Ntuli, Siphamandla Tshabalala, and Sfiso Mabena.
The State alleges that Mantula facilitated the recruitment and travel of her co-accused to join the Russian military.
They were intercepted by the Hawks at OR Tambo International Airport in late November last year, just moments before boarding a flight to Russia via the UAE.
The matter was postponed to today, to allow the State to conduct further investigations, including the analysis of digital evidence seized during their arrests.
