The Hong Kong Auxiliary Medical Service (AMS) has set a new Guinness World Record for ?most pairs of people applying arm slings simultaneously.?
Saturday?s ?Together, We Set a New Record? event at Kowloon?s Wah Yan College marked the voluntary medical and rescue service?s 75th anniversary.
According to a Saturday government press release, 1,950 triangular bandage arm slings were applied during the record attempt.
Commissioner of the AMS, Ronald Lam, said that ?not only does the record symbolise the 75-year history and development of the AMS, but it also showcases the professionalism and service spirit of the AMS in providing first aid services,? according to the release.
AMS volunteers provide medical support at major public events and take part in rescue operations.
The event on Saturday also recognised members who provided first-aid and nursing care services to 2,600 casualties of last month?s Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon.
