Malaysian police draw gun in stand-off with Singapore car driving wrong way at checkpoint

A police officer approached the car, gestured towards the driver and knocked on the window before the four-wheeler reversed and tried to move forward a couple of times.

As the stand-off continued, the officer brandished his firearm while his colleague struck the car’s bonnet with a traffic cone to prevent the driver from breaking through the checkpoint.

No shots were fired during the encounter, which ended after the car later managed to speed away from the spot. It was not immediately clear if the suspect had been caught.

A Malaysian home ministry official on Monday confirmed that the incident happened last month, The Star reported.
