MONUSCO has also indicated that it had informed the UN Secretariat of President Cyril Ramaphosa?s decision to withdraw the country?s remaining South African National Defense Force contingents and troops.
MONUSCO has thanked South African peacekeepers for the dedication demonstrated in support of it peacekeeping mandate in eastern Congo.
The statement from the mission pays tribute to the peacekeepers who lost their lives in the DRC while serving under the UN flag, and honoured their sacrifice.
MONUSCO says it looks forward to continuing to engage with South Africa on broader peacekeeping issues, including sharing lessons learned and providing ongoing support for initiatives aimed at promoting peace and stability.
