The company notes that the agreement on the acquisition of a majority stake in Cesvaines piens was signed on January 30th, 2026.

Smiltenes piens is acquiring Cesvaines piens in order to strengthen its competitiveness in the Baltic and European markets.

Representatives of Cesvaines piens note that competition in Latvia and export markets has increased significantly in recent years, so the consolidation of milk processing companies in Latvia is essential.

Representatives of Smiltenes piens told the LETA news agency that the company has submitted a coordinated report to the Competition Council and is awaiting a response so that the transaction can be completed. Smiltenes piens is not currently disclosing the amount of the transaction.
