Emergency services were called to the Warrina Shopping Complex on Bayswater Road in the Townsville suburb of Currajong at 4am today.
A Queensland Fire Department spokesperson said firefighters found three shops engulfed in flames.
"Crews battled the blaze for over an hour and a half before they were able to put it out. It re-ignited briefly just before 7am but was quickly brought under control," the spokesperson said.
"The service will now liaise with police as they investigate the cause."

No-one was injured in either incident.

A burnt out car was also discovered at Black River in the city's north.
Police say they are investigating whether the incidents are linked.
They are calling on any witnesses or community members with relevant dash cam footage to come forward.
Townsville City Mayor Nick Dametto, who regularly attends One Million Strong, said the incidents were concerning.
"I'd like to know when the gym is going to be reopening," he said.
"But community safety is paramount, and while there is a live police investigation, we'd hope that people are cooperative to get to the bottom of what happened overnight."
