googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('footerleaderboard'); }); Accused number 2 in the Senzo Meyiwa trial, Bongani Ntanzi, says investigators were not specific on the date the soccer captain was killed when they asked for his alibi.

Ntanzi, who is on trial with four others for the 2014 murder of the Bafana Bafana captain, has taken the stand in his defence at the High Court in Pretoria.

It?s alleged that Ntanzi was one of the intruders who entered Kelly Khumalo?s parental home the day the soccer captain was fatally shot. Upon his arrest in June 2020, Ntanzi says he was asked about his whereabouts when Meyiwa was murdered.

Ntanzi says it was only lead investigator Bongani Gininda who mentioned the dates, and he was subsequently taken from Rustenburg in the North West province to his former employer in Carltonville, west of Johannesburg.

“Gininda asked me 27 October 2014 about my whereabouts on the 27 as well as the 26th. I then responded by saying, if I am not on duty, then I am home, because it even came as a shock to him that I was gainfully employed according to him or according to his investigation, I was not employed I was in the taxi industry. I then responded to him by saying that if I am not around Gauteng, then I am back home.”

According to the state, Ntanzi ?s employer said he did not report for duty the day Meyiwa was killed. However, during the trial, they submitted that he was on leave.

The trial continues on Tuesday morning.
